For Hagetisse we did not build an ordinary website, but a custom web platform. One central place from which everything the client has conceived and will go on to conceive can be offered. Without getting stuck in plugins, limitations or workarounds.
The Hagetisse website is custom coded and set up as a flexible foundation. It is not focused on how websites usually work, but on how this client wants to work.
No standard solution, but from idea to bespoke platform
The client behind Hagetisse has a pedagogical background and a clear vision of how knowledge, depth and education should be offered online. During the preliminary phase it quickly became clear that existing plugins, themes and LMS systems were not a good fit. Standard solutions offered too little flexibility, particularly in the areas of educational content, access structures and interaction with her community.
That is why we chose a bespoke approach, in which functionality is not dictated by what is technically “possible”, but by what is substantively required. Not because it sounds impressive, but because in this case it was simply the right technical choice.
One platform, multiple functions
The website consists of various components that are fully integrated with each other and together form one powerful platform:
An extensive plant database
The plant database has been developed entirely to measure. No fixed data structures that get in the way of expansion, but a flexible system in which new content, properties and relationships can easily be added.
An integrated webshop
Books and products are sold via a webshop that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the platform. Not a standalone e-commerce solution, but part of the same system, with shared users and permission structures.
A course and learning environment
The course environment has been built from a didactic perspective, not from what a standard LMS plugin happens to offer. Content structure, access and progression align with how the client transfers knowledge, not the other way round.
Content based on membership level
Visitors gain access to different parts of the website based on their membership level. This makes the platform suitable for:
- open and restricted content
- courses and learning pathways
- communities
- future expansions
The access structure has been set up entirely bespoke and can therefore be easily adjusted or expanded.
Ready for online events (without dependencies)
What visitors do not yet see, but what has already been fully prepared technically, is the possibility to host online events. Think of:
- a dedicated event calendar
- announcements that can easily be placed on the homepage
- an integrated, Zoom-like environment
This functionality has been custom-built, ensuring that Hagetisse is not dependent on external platforms and retains full control over content, branding and user experience. In this way the client remains the owner of data and users and everything can be presented in the same style and structure.
And that’s not the only functionality already available in the backend. Hagetisse is also ready to go multilanguage. At the moment our client decides to enter the English-speaking market, she can!
Maximum freedom on the back end
On the administrative side we devoted significant attention to flexibility and ease of use:
- Content blocks can easily be added or repositioned
- The look and feel can be adjusted per page, blog or content type
- No fixed theme that limits creativity
The newsletter functionality has also been custom-built, enabling her to quickly and purposefully select content from her platform and ensuring that her newsletter aligns precisely with the way the client communicates with her audience.
